Random F&B confession

I don't have black pumps. I thought I did, but I don't.

I think I'll need some Sunday.

Either that, or I'll have to wear my leopard print haircalf platform clogs (see profile pic) and a black dress. I do have that stuff.

Oh, what to do, what to do....

Re: Random F&B confession

  • I don't have plain black pumps either. I do have some satin peep toe pumps with a bow, but no plain jane black leather pumps. oh the horror... :)

what is the event you have on Sunday? maybe the leopard shoes will work for that.

  • I retired all my pumps when I became a SAHM 4+ years ago. They were beat up from wearing them so much and I had no reason to keep them. I do have a pair of nude patent snakeskin ankle-strap pumps that I bought for a wedding a few months ago, but I did go almost 4 years without them.

  • LOL!  How is this possible?  Of course, since your job is mostly outside, I imagine you don't wear pumps much for work?  I have like a million pairs of black pumps since I wear mostly black and grey suits.

On the topic of your job, can you please explain what you do?  Don't make fun, but are you paid to investigate issues about trees and other plants and then testify about it in court?  That is definitely one of the more interesting professions I've seen on here, lol.  How did you get into this?

  • Ha! Glad to see I am not the only one! I used to be a chemist and then became a SAHM so never needed a pair. I love the look but sometimes even I am shocked that I don't own a pair. LOL! Can't wait to get a pair though. I got a temp job and going to buy myself the Como corso ones with my OT bonus. :)

  • I wear dark blue jeans and a plain tee shirt daily, typically a dark long sleeve tee and I wear the exact same makeup every day. I switch it up between black ballet flats (dr scholls) and my brown tennis shoes. I have no clue about fashion and have no clue how to dress, especially since having kids and trying to figure out how to dress for my "new" body.

Wow, I didn't think anyone was really paying attention! YES, I do exactly what you said; but most cases never go to court (you're a lawyer, right?). Many times it is an insurance company (like for an electrical utility) vs. a homeowner and they need an "expert" to write a long, boring report with lots of technical jargon (and latin names) to substantiate this or that before someone writes a check to someone else. Other times, people want a tree appraised (usually after it falls down, LOL). Other times, people want to know if a tree is in danger of falling down. Other times, they want to know what is wrong with a tree or some other plant in their yard. Or there is some kind property line encroachment and trees were removed/damaged. Or they just want me to design a beautiful landscape for them, or prune their azaleas, or recommend a tree, shrub, insecticide.... All sorts of stuff. Oh, and the occasional speaking engagement. I got into it because I've always loved planting things and designing things, but I wanted to work for myself in something science-based (and needed a bigger income).

I think they'll work. It's sort of a business function, and I tend to go more overboard than I need to. Most people would do business casual. I've worn them to an almost identical event a couple years ago and it worked great (simple black dress with those stilts and a dramatic necklace).

It stood out to me for two reasons:

    1. I'm a lawyer and work with some forensic experts - typically accountants and psychologists as I do domestic litigation.  So, when I saw forensic arborist I thought, wow, that is interesting!

    2.  I made a mental note to never disagree with you again on the gardening board.  Although, I swear my parents' vinca looks nice!  :)

  • I don't have plain black pumps either. Embarrassed
  • The only black shoes I own are rain boots. Gold? Nude? Hot pink? Orange? Kelly Green? Have all those, but no black in pumps, flats, sandals, anything.

Wow, Uh disregard this... after a couple glasses of wine I have zero reading comprehension. Embarrassed
