Where were you 11 years ago today when America was attacked?

 

I was at home getting ready for a college class. I was a dance major at the time and I had a ballet class. It was still early and not much had occured yet so I went to class. It wasn't until after class I heard more of the tragic details. My boyfriend at the time wanted to go to the beach so we went. I remember bringing a radio and listening for updates. I also remember my mother calling me and saying, "Get home. It's not safe to be out. You don't know what else could happen."

I was a senior in high school.  My bus picked us up way too early.  I was usually at school by 7:30-7:40 and classes didn't start until 8:20.  I was hanging out in my favorite teachers room talking with her and a few of my friends when one of the guys in my class, Kevin, came in to tell us what he'd heard on the radio.  We immediately went to the history room to watch the news.  I know my first several classes in the morning were spent watching the news.  By the afternoon they had turned the TVs off but we still continued to discuss what had happened.

(this is going to make me sound really young)

 I was walking into my 7th grade social studies class. Our teacher had it on, and he didn't want to turn it off. We watched for the whole 40 minute class period. By the time I got into the class, both planes had crashed. I don't remember if we watched one of the towers fall or not. I think we may have watched the south tower. I ended up being in one of the only classes that actually watched any of the footage live in the school.

I was getting ready for college and my grandma had the tv blasting because she didnt have her hearing aids in and was wanting to hear what was going on. I listened to it on the radio on the way to school and watched it on a TV on campus. All of my classes were canceled that day.

I was at my college apartment and had just gotten home the day before. I turned 21 on September 8 that year, so I took a trip to Las Vegas with my friends. I had booked my flight over the phone for September 10 but when I got to the airport that morning, they said my flight was for September 11. I debated just staying another night because I didn't have work or school the next day but instead I paid to change my ticket. I'm so glad I did because I would have been stranded in Vegas since all flights were cancelled.
