My poor baby girl was in the pediatric ward @ Kennedy for a week. She had some kind of bacterial infection in her blood and had to be on IV antibiotics around the clock for 7 days. It was terrible... she was poked and prodded, had several failed IVs and even had to have a spinal tap!!!
DH and I was so happy to finally have her home on Tuesday night. We were looking forward to getting back into a routine and having the 4 of us under 1 roof again (poor Isabella was so confused... first I had the baby and we had to stay in the hospital for 3 days, then we bring her home for a few days and then she is sent right back to the hospital and Isabella was shifted between grandparents houses for the week).
Around 4am yesterday morning I woke up with a stabbing pain in my upper abdomen. I could barely move, the paind was 100 x's worse than any contraction I had during labor! I had to crawl upstairs to get DH (I was on the couch because Olivia had just finished eating) and have him take me to the ER. After an u/s it was determined that I had a gallbladder attack and that I have "stones & sludge" in my gallbladder and that it needs to come out soon.
In 2 hours I leave to go to a surgeon and hopefully get a date in the near future to have my gallbladder taken out. I am so scared to have an attack when I am home alone with the girls, so I hope it can be done soon.
But here's my vent: CAN I CATCH A FREAKIN BREAK?? Really, all I want to do is enjoy the short time I have home with my girls before I have to return to work. Between giving birth and then spending an additioanl week in the hospital with Olivia, and now having to have surgery (nothing too serious I'm told, but I will have lifting restrictions and may not be able to carry Olivia in the carseat for a week of 2 which means I'll be stuck at home!) I swear I am about to lose my mind.
Everytime someone asks me how I'm holding up it takes everything in me not to burst into tears.
I don't know how much more I can take...
Re: Olivia was in the hosp. for a week, need to VENT!!!
I hope that you are just getting all the bad out now, so you can just enjoy the rest of year with your daughters.
My cousin had his gallbladder go last fall, and they were able to put him on medication so he could still go through with his wedding in the Islands before his surgery. You should be good until they get you in, and at least for my cousin the surgery was eaiser.
Wow! Glad that Olivia is better now!
As for your gallbladder... it's such a common surgery now you'll bounce back quickly. They do it laparoscopically and you won't have a huge scar.
Ohmygosh, that is a lot to handle! I am glad to hear that Olivia is doing better, that had to be a very scary time for you and DH. And little Isabella was probably like what is going on.
And I am so sorry to hear about your gallbladder surgery, but everything will get worked out and you will get that fabulous QT with your family.
Stay strong and we are always here if you need to vent more!
I hope you catch a break soon!!! All of those situations suck, much less put together.
My mom had her GB out years ago and was so much happier after it was done. I hope it goes smoothly for you.
First off I'm glad Olivia is doing better.
As for your gall bladder, hopefully you can get it taken care of quickly and you're back on your feet in no time. Would you be able to extend your leave because of having this surgery now?
