ovarian cysts

So I have been having a dull ache/pain in my lower abdomen and some other symptoms which are tmi for public boards LOL and just didn't feel like myself. I went to the gyno on tuesday night and I have an ovarian cyst probably 3-4cm in my left ovary. :( I have an ultrasound on monday I guess to determine the size and kind?

For anyone that has had them, what do they do for them? My gyno didn't seem too concerned but I just wanted to be a little more prepared.

Of course this is EXACTLY what I need before moving to DC. :(

Re: ovarian cysts

  • I'm sorry! I know how much they suck! I've had a about 5 of them (always on the right side) and in my case, they did nothing. One of them was rather large, but had started to go down on it's otherwise they would have done surgery. Don't worry too much! But I'm sorry you're in pain ... so NOT fun!
  • I have had them thorugh out my life...some are really painful and some i didn't even know existed b/f i had a u/s...depending on the size they may just leave it alone and let it clear itself up (thats what they have done with all of mine..)
  • I'm so sorry, Jaci! I've never had them before, but one of my friends has and I know she said that they were pretty painful.  Hopefully it'll go away on it's own soon...
  • Aw, that stinks. My friend had one and she said it just made her cramps more painful. But hers ended up bursting. before that, they did nothing.
  • Thanks for the insight girls! I figure as well that they will hopefully let it go away on its own.  Sooo annoying though, and constant pain/discomfort sucks.  Tylenol rapid release is my new best frriend. :(
  • I had one last year but by the time I got in for the ultrasound it had burst already....the thing that stinks it the process of getting the ultrasound...I had to drink SOO much water before and then couldn't go to the bathroom until after...I thought my bladder was gonna burst!!  I feel bad for all you pregnant girls who have to do that.

You'll be fine though, if it's small they will probably leave it....I didn't even know I had mine until I went in for my yearly

  • I'm sorry, I hope you feel better soon. ?It is my understanding that they usually resolve on their own. ?
