We Got Our Shop!

Well DH and I have secured our new endeavor and we will be opening a sandwich shop in Stone Harbor in the next couple of months.  It is between 96th and 97th Streets behind the movie theatre in the food court near the Harbor Pub and Atlantic Books, for those of you familiar with SH.  The old place was called Samiches and we are changing the name to Jack's Shack.  The previous owners menu was minimal and pricey, so we are expanding the menu and making the prices more reasonable.  We are also leasing the adjoining shop and breaking through the wall to have seating.  As of now the layout will hold approx 8-10 tables.  We are planning on breakfast sandwiches, steak sandwiches, hoagies, wraps, fryer items, and salads, along with what we'll call "beach bites" - hot dogs, grilled cheese, pb&j, and fluffernutter sandwiches!  We are trying to go with as many fresh products as possible with our chicken steaks being diced chicken breasts rather than shredded chicken.  I am also going to make homemade dips to sell in easy serving take out containers (buff chicken dip, jalapeno popper dip, fresh salsa, guac...).

We hope to have the place in working order and spiffed up by the beginning of March and do a soft opening, then have a Grand Opening in May towards Memorial Day weekend, if not on it.  So for now it is picking out paint, decor, furniture, lighting, logos, menus, t-shirts, etc.  I'm sure I'll be asking for a lot of input from you guys in the near future and maybe I'll be able host a GTG one night in the shop - it can be byo and will have plenty of room!
