Re: Woman who had 8 babies...

  • I saw that! I think that is just too many children...
  • ...one of the other boards posted that she's living in a small house with her parents, and the father of the children is a contractor in iraq, getting ready to go back.

    just sounds like odd circumstances.

  • I have alot of problems with this.

I do not understand why there was a need for her to be on fertility, if she has already a full house with 6 children.

I wonder if she is monetarily self sufficient, or if she is relying financially on her parents to help raise the six children she had before the next 8 came along. Why does she live with her parents, otherwise? This is suspicious to me; and if so, it makes me wonder if she is on public assistance.

If the answer to her being on public assistance is "yes", then how did she get funding for fertility treatments (assuming this is how she became pregnant with 8 babies).

My heart breaks for the hundreds of thousands of women who are trying desperately to carry one baby...and cannot :(

I read on D&R that it is the grandfather who is the contractor getting ready to go back to Iraq and that the father is not in the picture anymore.

Either way I think it is frustrating. I don't know how to react. She has 6 children and still decided to go on fertility treatments??? All I am asking for is one child... but apparently that is too much to ask.

  • And one more thing... this is exactly one of the reasons why insurance companies won't cover IF treatments. If Clomid doesn't work for us we are going to need to save for other treatments because our insurance won't cover IF treatments.

Ditto this exactly.  This is essentially what DH and I were discussing for a good half-hour tonight, and my DH - bleeding heart that he is - was even bothered by this.  Gah!

  • There are definitely a TON of ethical issues with this, especially her "need" to have more kids, when she already had 6.  I agree with some of the previous posters about it not being fair to women who can't have just one child...so sad.
