I saw this on MSN at lunch. Leap Frog is coming out with a kid's version of the Blackberry. They can send fake text messages and "check their schedules". Seriously, are those skills necessary for preschoolers?
It's bad enough that my little sister has wanted a cell phone since she was 9, but this is just ridiculous. Just wait until the kids realize it's not a real phone and it can't make calls! They'll probably throw it at their parents...
With a retail price $25, I think I'll pass...
Re: Baby Blackberry
It is ridiculous. At the beginning of each school year, I have the kids create an "All About Me Bag." Last year one of my girls pulled out a PDA and said "This is where I keep all of my scheduling and important information..." WHAT?! What do you have to schedule. I tell you what to do from 8:30-4! : ) ?This year, my kids all brought their i-pods and DS's. It is ALL they do and I'm tired of it.
I was in an authentic toy store this weekend in Philly, that now, thinking back, I don't think had a single tech device. They had toys that I played with. My sister made the comment that these are the types of toys she wants her kids playing with and I totally agree.?
I think it has to really be a conscious effort though...?
