So it's begun...

...the elusive layoffs I've been waiting for since October =/

It seems only senior managers and directors have been affected today so it looks like they are starting from the top and working their way down. Funny enough I sit outside a senior manager's office and noticed he was acting a bit strange this morning. I saw him talk to another senior manager, pack up some stuff, talk to his admin (who gave him a hug and kept shaking her head as he talked to her), pack up some more stuff, and then leave. He also left without taking his laptop and we're suppose to carry our laptops with us at all times so that furthered my suspicions.  I finally asked his administrator who said he and 2 other senior managers that she knew of were asked to leave this morning.

The rumor lately had been that Tues Feb 3rd would be the day and with what I saw this morning, it definitely furthers the belief that tomorrow will be the big day for us little people....

So with that I'll take any prayers, thoughts, good vibes, etc that you can spare me right now.

Re: So it's begun...

  • Wow. Isn't it kinda strange that they're not doing it on a Friday?

Good luck Noosh, your in my prayers. No matter what happens, I'm sure it's for the best, but I know that hard to see right now. :(

We've always suspected that it wouldnt be on a Friday....

Fridays would be a hard day to do layoffs at our company especially in the IT realm of things. Typically Friday nights are the nights that programmers and different teams do updates to our software that way if something goes wrong they have all wkend to fix it before it causes problems during working days. When software upgrades and fixes are done on Friday nights, there are certain people who are asked to come in from 5 - 11 pm (instead of regular work hrs) to make sure things go smoothly so if they happened to lay off someone friday am who was suppose to manage the software stuff that night, it might be hard to find a replacement that quickly.

I've honestly made my peace with whatever happens, granted I def want to keep my job since I really like working here but I'm just ready to know either way and move on with my life. This living in a Groundhog Day-esq situation has really taken a toll on me...

  • our company did the (surprise) big layoff day on a Tuesday also.

I really am sending good vibes your way. You are in my thoughts!

  • I'll be praying for you Noosh!
