Re: Rebecca
Well, the dr. just called. Apparently due to HIPPA the lab cannot release the results directly to the doctor. DH has to call the lab and request the results to be faxed to the doctor. So, we won't hear anything for a few days because it will probably take a day or two for the doctor to receive the tests, read them and call us with the results.
Normally my doctor is great. Every office/specialist/lab etc. is so wonderful to deal with. This is the first time I've had to go to an office outside the St. Jude network and I am so beyond frustrated with the process.
End vent.
I know, I was so surprised when she told us to go to a quest lab. St. Jude does literally everything "in house" so to speak. Although, I do have to take my vent back....the doctor's assistant just called back to say she was wrong, they do have the results and the doc will read them and call us back.
So what's with the HIPPA thing...she just made all that up? LOL.
I know, probably! I don't think HIPPA has anything to do with a lab releasing my results to the doctor. I think it's more about not releasing information to anyone other than the patient.
This is totally incorrect! The dr. who ordered the test should get the results. Most labs don't want you contacting them at all. Once the dr. reviews the results he/she should call you.
(Just saw they corrected themselves... good!)
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
Kim's totally right, they will only release the info to the dr who ordered it. They won't even release it to the wife without patient's consent in writing. God bless HIPAA.
