F/U to Addy's tests

First I want to thank you all for your good thoughts today!  Addy did really well today even though it was a very long day.  She first had a barium swallow study to make sure she didn't have any constrictions in her esophagus and see if she was refluxing.  She had to drink this nasty barium stuff which they flavored grape...she screamed the entire time and was super mad!  It was difficult to make her drink...heartwrenching to have to standby and just watch!!!  Anyway, her esophagus is normal (GREAT NEWS!) and she did not reflux in the 4 minutes the checked...Mark and I still think she is and the dr. said she could be even though she didn't during those 4 minutes. (So that was good news too, but I guess I was hoping for confirmation, so I knew we should keep giving her medicine for reflux.

The other test was the one we were really worried about...she had to have a sweat test to see if she had cystic fibrosis...thankfully...it was negative!!!  (ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC NEWS!!!)  She did really well for that test...I think she was too exhaustic to put up a fight!!! LOL!

So now, we have to see the pulmonologist again in 2-4 weeks.  I'll continue to keep you posted on how she is.  The good thing is that even thought she's wheezing...her breathing is not in distress.

Thank you again....it's great to have such caring friends!

Re: F/U to Addy's tests

  • Poor Addy...and poor mommy and daddy.  It sounds like a rough day for you all.  Although I'm very sorry you didn't get any concrete answers, it's comforting to know she's not in any distress from the wheezing.  I'll keep you in my thoughts and hope your next update brings better news.  Hang in there!
  • That's all great news so far!  I'm so glad the cystic fibrosis test was negative.  What a scary day though!  I hope the next visit can pinpoint something a little more concrete for you, but what a relief that CF isn't the diagnosis.  Thinking about you!
  • Poor Addy!  What a day for her.  I hope she recovers from the day and forgets it.  Yay for the good news.  I also hope they figure out why she is wheezing.
  • That's great news!!

  • Aww...sounds like quite a day for little Addy!  I'm so glad to hear that the tests were negative...what a relief!  Let's hope her next appt comes with good news as well.  Keep us posted...
  • Aww, what an incredibly difficult day for all of you!  I'm glad to hear that the test results were negative and that her breathing isn't distressed.  I hope that the next appointment goes well too!  Thinking of you three...
