Thank god for the sanity/lack of harsh judgment of this board. Maybe I am a free spirit wacky liberal but because Michael Phelps was stupid and got his picture taken while smoking an illegal substance does not mean he is dead to me. I feel like asking them who said "I inhaled frequently. That was the point.." (President Obama)
Isn't it something like judge not lest yee be judged?
Sorry for my rant and for being a pw. Feel free to vote me off the island.
Re: Can I just say...
I'm SO glad you brought this up! I was just about to post over there about it last night and thought nah . . can't argue with crazy.
My take is he's 23 years old . . how can ANYONE be expected to be a perfect role model at that point in your life? I wouldn't have wanted people judging me and my actions when I was 23.
OMG, Jen...your comment on the other board was hilarious!! I about choked on my water when I read that.
"Being able to swim really fast? I can think of better people to admire personally. Just my two cents."
I couldn't agree more. I personally don't care for him and never understood all the hype on him.
I hadn't read the more recent posts so when I went over I couldn't hold back. I just hate how we place people like that on a pedestal. Yeah what he accomplished was pretty awesome so why not just idolize his accomplishments?
They all need to get off their high horses.
Please post the board motto 100 times
Crazy draws you in like a bug to one of those zappy lights (or Phelps to a frat party)
Jen - your comment was priceless!
I think all this hoopla is just ridiculous. Why should it change anyone's feelings over what he accomplished at the Summer Olympics? I highly doubt his pot smoking *helped* him get those gold medals, and it's not like he was back in his dorm getting high before every race. If he chooses to smoke pot at a frat party, that's his business, he is afterall like a lot of you mentioned, 23!
omg the most recent reply makes me just shake my head. last time i checked most athletes worked their asses off to get to the Olympics to be able to show their pride for their sport and their country at the ultimate stage. They don't do it to be celebrities. It bugs me that people seem to hold celebrities and professional athletes to a higher moral ground than they would people they actually know.
wow...just wow...i mean are the crazy ones multiplying over there or what??
