Chasing the NyQuil Dragon
For almost a week and a half I have been slugging back the Q Juice to try to go to sleep.
Normally I am out like a light 5 or 10 minutes after laying down, but I cannot for the life of me go to sleep and stay that way for a solid amount of time.
I rarely take Tylenol, let alone cough medicine with sleepy stuff in it. It has become my last resort as I lay there staring at the clock tick the hours by.
If this is a new symptom to add to my already multitude of PMS symptoms, I'm going to be ticked.
So frustrating because sleep is a BFF of mine.
Re: Chasing the NyQuil Dragon
I actually took some Nyquil last night, as a last resort, because I couldn't stop coughing. I forgot how bad the liquid actually tasted
Are you not able to sleep because of a cold/illness or do you just have racing thoughts and can't seem to turn your brain off?
I had the latter a year or so ago, and it ended up being anxiety related... I went to the Dr and she prescribed an anti-anxiety med and I took it 1/2 hour before bedtime, and it worked like a charm. I actually don't need it anymore, because I was a good girl and dealt with my anxiety trigger.
Good luck!
Nyquil always ends up keeping me up or giving me crazy dreams.
If you're not sick and you're looking for an alternative, I recommend Tylenol's Simply Sleep. One does is 2 pills, but sometimes I find that one pill knocks me out just fine (especially if I take them 45 minutes before bed with a little wine -- before I was pg, that is). Two pills definitely keeps me asleep all night.
I'm not sick, but it's the only thing that will help me sleep. Work is a little stressful and I'm in the midst of starting a side business. I work at night on it and then I am wired by the time I go to bed. The creative juices get going and I can't walk away from what I'm doing. I can't turn it off.
I'm going to get some of the Tylenol stuff because I gag on the taste of NyQuil and that can't be good for you.
Crazy dreams indeed. Last night my ex-boyfriend put me inside of a recycling truck in the holding bin because he was going to re-use me. (Freud much?) I was almost compacted with the clear soda bottles before I woke up. Whew! Close call!
I never heard of the melatonin thing. I'll have to out and buy a bunch of things and see what takes.
I was having a nice drinky-poo or two while working, but my paint jobs aren't as clean. Also doesn't help if I'm not paying attention and accidentally dip my brushes in my drink instead of the water to clean them either. Acrylic paint. Yum!
Sleep may be optional in the coming weeks if/when things pick up. All nighters here I come!
