Job Openings anybody?

Ok, I'm hearing about layoffs at work now- not such a good time to be a state employee. It is probably just a scare tactic or rumors (typical state fires that have yet to be put out :) )

Does anybody know of any decent paying job openings for someone with a Business Administration MBA, or healthcare background?

Just trying to keep options open and look around "just in case" :)

THANKS!

Re: Job Openings anybody?

  • Do you have a degree? Cause if you do my work has openings. At least they did before I left on mat leave. I'll ask DH to look it up and see what they have.
  • Check with the VA in Loma Linda. It is Federal and healthcare so more stable then most jobs.
  • Yes- I have:
    BS Sports Medicine- Pepperdine University
MBA specializing in Healthcare Management- University of Phoenix.
(I wanted to be a physical therapist- but decided against it after interning and disliked the field).

I have worked for the state for 7 years, have experience as a manager of 50+ employees (1.5 years as a nightclub manager), and was Marketing Director for an online company for 1+ years until the company's poor accounting methods caused it to go bankrupt.

  • Looks like you have a great resume. If you find something at the VA, let me know. DH's godfather works there. I can tell him to put in a good word. Wink
  • I don't know if this would be something you might be interested in but my bil's company, the Visiting Nurses Association has a position as a community liaison open for the Murrieta area.

  • THANK YOU everybody! I really appreciate your assistance!

I really enjoy my job; however, I am afraid that with the upcoming potential layoffs, I need to be prepared and start searching and marketing myself out there- It can't hurt to be prepared and you have given me quite a bit to think about- THANKS! :)

  • Sorry I got nothing.  I've actually been looking for another job, because my boss sucks and I don't like my schedule.  Unfortunately everything in healthcare is on the downslide because so many people are losing jobs and losing insurance.  I guess in the IE the census in hospitals and nursing homes in down dramatically.  I figure I should be happy to have a job at all.  This whole thing sucks!

    Good luck Married!

My SIL & MIL are in the healthcare industry. They were saying the other day that their field is "the only one not affected by the economy." That just didn't make sense to me. SIL said her hospital is hiring like crazy...but then again she is notorious for telling whoppers.

I'm in physical therapy.  Maybe thats different, opposed to say a county hospital, where they take everyone in.  But for me some people are putting off surgeries due to insurance issues or not wanting to take time off of work etc.  At my job we just lost half our HMO contract money because enrollment at the HMO clinic is down due to unemployment.  I guess its different everywhere and depends on the field.  I know for sure there are hardly any physical therapist jobs open in the IE right now.  sucks!

  • Ah that makes sense. I was gonna say that they are defiantly still hiring nurses. Everyday I have worked the director of the unit has tried to get me to sign on full-time. There isn't as much overtime as there use to be though.
  • Here is the website to search for jobs at my company, even if you don't see anything I would still submit your resume
