MH has just received a job offer in Shreveport. We know nothing about the area. What are some good places to live? Whats the shopping like? Is there anything to do? Thanks in advance! Anything you could tell me would be helpful!!

Re: Shreveport Area
I grew up there and my parents still live there. There's not too much going on in Shreveport I hate to report, but it's not too bad if you know where to go.
To live I'd suggest the south Shreveport area. Southern Broadmoor area, South Highlands, Ellerbe road area are all good areas.
Youree Drive is where the decent shopping is. It's got all the major restaurants and stores there. Traffic however is insane because they have all of that and just a little 4 lane highway, it's very much like Mandeville in that respect. The Boardwalk as was mentioned is actually in Bossier City which is just across the Red River from Shreveport is really nice.
North of Bossier is a town named Benton and it's a very nice place. I'd either move back to South Shreveport or Benton *North Bossier that whole little area*. The thing about S'port/Bossier is there is no distinguishing between good areas and bad areas, they just run into one another so you have to do some research when you get ready to find a place. All the areas I've mentioned are very good areas. The crime in Shreveport is almost as bad as it is here.
Downtown Shreveport is full of night clubs and some art galleries, they have the Sci-Port discovery center which is a great science museum. The Boardwalk has restaurants and clubs as well. Both towns have good comminuty sports programs if either of you are into that. There's a ton of beautiful parks and on the Shreveport side of the Red they have a running trail right on the river, it's very pretty.
Sorry this reply was all over the place! I just typed as I thought of stuff. If you need any help or have any questions let me know.
Good Luck!
