so tonight I decided to make reservs for Valentine's Day to celebrate our anniversary which is on the 17th. MIL also told us she'd watch Alex so we could go out.

I spent forever on the phone and online trying to find reservs for Vday. Every major rest. in the city has NO openings.

If you haven't done it now, good luck. Some do have 9pm times, but that's too late for me.

Oh wow, I guess since V-day is on the weekend this year, everyone is making the most of it. I'll be studying so no festivities for us, but it's okay, we don't really celebrate Valentine's in a big way, anyway.

Where did y'all wind up getting reservations?

Now I am glad DH is going to be offshore!!! We usually celebrate V-day and our Anniv. (its on the 18th) at the same time. We are going to celebrate them when he gets back in March sometime.

This is why DH and I made up our own holiday for v-day. We celebrate is 6 months later on August 14th and we can have our choice of restaurants, don't have to fight the crowds, flowers aren't ridiculously overpriced, it has many perks.

I called like 4 weeks ago b/c we have friends coming in town and I couldn't get a reservation anywhere unless I wanted to eat at 5:30 or 10:00. I finally got one at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse, who agreed to "squeze" us in at 7pm. Now I realized I am going to be fighting parade traffic to get down to the quarter. Wish I would have thought about that before, ugh!

Yikes. I'm glad J works this year (he works for a restaurant, so it's a given anyway). haha. We went to GW Fins last year and it was a mad house - with the NBA All Star game (or whatever it was) going on around that time as well. I normally love GW, but good lord we were packed in like sardines. We'll be celebrating on Wednesday this year.

after calling about 10 restaurants and going to opentable.com, I finally just searched opentable.com to see which restaurants had openings. The only one I was remotely interested in was red maple (or something like that). IT's right by my house.

DH said it's "just ok", but I've heard it's pretty good.

We made reservations at the Steak Knife in Lakeview. We had the choice of 5pm and 9pm, so we went for 5pm. I'm excited, I'm told they have wonderful steaks!

I'm with the pp who has a DH working in the restaurants that are crazy busy. I don't really mind it though as we have never gotten to do V-day on V-day bc of his schedule. We really don't do V-day at all anyways. I have friends in town for some of the parades and will be preoccupied. :-)

we've been. it's pretty good. we were going to have our RD there. pre-katrina, of course.

It has changed since Katrina. We went there a few months ago and it was OK. It has a lot of steak on the menu these days. Oh did you try O'Brian's Grill on Belle Chasse Highway? That place was really good.
