I just finished Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. I loved it! Whether you need to sleep train a child or not, it had a lot of info on sleep and sleep patterns in general. It will definitely affect how I handle things when baby #2 comes around.
Emma is a decent night sleeper. I can put her down drowsy and she can put herself to sleep. She wakes once sometimes twice to eat and again puts hersel to sleep. She naps well at daycare, but home.....not so much. Today I followed the routine of getting her down for a nap. I know that she can get herself to sleep at night so she needs to do it during the day too. If she could choose, she wouldn't nap at all and then her night sleep would be not so good. So, I put her in her crib and she cried off and on for 30 minutes. I did not go to her as I knew she was fine. After 30 minutes, she was happily sleeping in her crib. I have now had a nice long shower......the first saturday one without her in a bouncy in the bathroom in I don't know how long!
Did the crying bother me? A little, but I know that a couple of days of crying to get good sleep is best for her inthe long run.
Flame away if you want!
Re: Mommies: Book rave
No flames here, we do the exact same thing. We let Haley lay in her crib crying quite often if we know she has everything she needs. Of course it bothers me but I've gotten better about it over the months.
Thanks for the book recommendation. I'll have to check it out!
