Anyone use NJEA short term disability ins?
can you tell me how you went about filing the claim and how the money came? I tried to get through this morning and didn't have much luck. I have to get ready for an appt and can't call until later or next week. Just trying to get all my financial ducks in a row while there is still plenty of time to do so!
thanks!

Re: Anyone use NJEA short term disability ins?
Hi, Jackie,
Do you mean the program NJEA offers thorugh Prudential Financial? I hadn't heard of it, but I just called and spoke to a representative. They told me that unless you enrolled in the program prior to your pregnancy, you are not eligible for this pregnancy. I don't know if you have the information or not, but I asked them to send me some so I could look over it for the future. I'd be more than happy to share it with you.
I have differemt dtsability insurance, but I called a couple weeks before I was due and they sent me a letter that the ob fills out after birth. I sent the letter in to the company and got my check about 2 weeks later.
my comp. requires you to be enrolled 3 months prior to getting pregnant.
Thanks, ladies! I enrolled in Nov of 07, so I know have the covg. I just didn't know how the rest of it worked. I did finally get through to someone, and I call them 30 days prior and the midwife fills out the paperwork. I was SO relieved to hear they treat the school year as a 12 month position and I will get $$ over July and August. Whew!

They are treating it like a 12 month position!? I think I have the same insurance, but didn't reply before because I don't have any experience with submitting a claim.
I heard that if my "leave" is over the summer I'm not eligible to collect because I wouldn't be receiving regular pay anyway. I really hope we do have the same ins company and that you're right about summer coverage.
