I saw your post on H&F and the elevation map for your run...HOLY GOD I died just looking at it!

Have you thought about the Jemez Trail Run in May?  They have a HM, 50k, and 50 Mile race...I'm not doing it this year since I'm still on the injured list, but I'll be doing the 50k (~32 miles) next year.  You should seriously consider at least the HM...you could totally do it!  One of my friends found a website w/some pics from last year's race and they were amazing!  I'll ask her to send them to me again so you can see...

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

Re: diamondcks

  • Hey, I actually saw your other post first Wink

So that elevation map....that is the Jemez trail run! (If someone else is reading here).  Have you looked at the 50k? makes the half look laughable: here.  But good luck!  Maybe if the half goes well this year I'll tackle the 50k next.

I'm going to be positive and think you will be running soon.  This might be a good training run this fall just to get a feel for the trails around Los Alamos: here.  I did the 10k last year, and it was a tough 10k, but I want to do the 15mile this year, the last 9 miles are much flatter than the first 6!

(The women's running group I train with is currently training for Jemez, and they host the Pajarito Trail Fest.)

Have you done much trail running? I find that it is easier on the joints and shins, but you have to be a lot more mentally focused, and I always run slower....

Flame, you want to come cheer us on??

  • Just don't ever ask me to run that.  Reminds me of the La Luz Trail Run!!!

I definitely am game to cheering, sitting someplace with a water stash or food stash, etc.....  No running, though.

    You two rock!

  • LOL, I kinda wondered if that was it!  I'm not clicking the link w/the 50k elevation map!  I refuse!  I'm blindly agreeing to do it w/a couple of friends...I know it's supposed to be insane and I've read a few race reports, but I'll confront my insanity later.  Big Smile

Hey, and cheereladers are ALWAYS welcome!

Ah, what's the fun in confronting insanity?

Okay, I am now the official Diamond Duff (D squared) cheerleading squad.

  • *lol* I'm feeling the pressure to do well now that I have half an official cheering squad!

Duff I can't decide if you are insane or genius to not look at the elevation profile.  I'll just recommend you train hills, and as I was relieved to learn last year, almost everyone hikes parts of hilly trail races, I think more people do them to have fun than win, at least more than road races.

  • Ok, well insanity took over and I looked...it's actually just a *little* worse than I was expecting.  The few people I know who's survived it before suggested walking the uphills and running the downhills and flats, so that was my plan.  My ortho (who turned out to be a very, very strange man) semi-cleared me to run today...it's a long story...so I'm going to get started again this weekend.

But yeah, this one's for fun, hanging out w/friends and looking at the scenery...I don't expect to do anything specatcular w/it.  :)

  • I'm glad that it wasn't shockingly bad  Big Smile

So I guess that the MRI must not have shown anything to bad?  Good luck on your runs this week!!
