Yay for new energy savings

Our HVAC hasn't been working right all season and we have had to fix it several times before.  We finally decided to get quotes on new systems and have spent a lot of time researching.  Research finally paid off when the new economic bill was passed yesterday and we found that it included a new energy credit.  We kept reading the bills all day and finally the energy star website was updated just tonight with the new credit and now you can get up to $1500 credit.  The companies are having rebates in March too.

Definitely pays to get several quotes because companies really vary in price too.  I hope this helps others who are looking into it or other new energy appliances too.

Yay for it working out and hopefully getting a system for a lot less than what we were fearing and were originally being quoted!  I've been so stressed over this.

Re: Yay for new energy savings

  • Thanks for posting this Stacey!  I got a quote on a new furnace around Christmas but decided to hold off because it wasn't a necessity.  I may revisit replacement now, although I have other projects at the top of my list!

Thanks!!  I was just checking out other breaks on Energy Star products today. We totally need new storm windows.

Windows went up for 10% to 30% too, with max $1500!  Yay!  My dad works a window company so I called him tonight too to make sure they knew about the change.

Good luck with your search for new windows.

  • Stacey - does the window company your dad works for make storm windows for double sash windows?  I want energy efficient storm windows since our 100+ year old windows are not very efficient (but I don't want to lose their character).
  • Denise - I'm not sure but I'd be happy to ask him.  I'm going to my parent's house this weekend so I'll send you an email after that.

  • Stacey thanks for posting that list...I had seen it a while back and was telling DH about it because we want to get a quote from his cousin to install a tankless water heater for our house.
