Book suggestions

I have $15 in Borders store credit (expires at the end of the month) and a coupon for 40% off one book (expires tomorrow). I have no idea what I want, but I need to spend it this weekend! I need help. TIA

Re: Book suggestions

  • What kind of books do you like?

  • All kinds - I'm not really particular. I currently have more unread fiction than I even know what to do with (thanks nestie book exchanges!) but am not opposed to getting more. I am also open to non-fiction, including, but not limited to money, TTC, fitness and cooking.

As you can tell, I am no help!

  • Well, I only really read fiction. Smile

The book board girls love a series called Outlander (that's the first book) by Diana Gabaldon. I haven't read it yet, but they are WILD about it and many love the main guy more than they love Edward.?

I'm super into YA lit right now, and some of my favorites are This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen, Nick & Norah's Infinate Playlist by David Levithan, and the Jessica Darling series (first book is Sloppy Firsts) by Megan McCafferty. I HIGHLY recommend the Jessica Darling books...they are AWESOME. Very witty and snarky.??

  • If you like non-fiction, I'm a huge Malcolm Gladwell fan.  Outliers, his newest, was well worth the price. The Tipping Point, is also a great choice.

    Signed,

A nerd who only reads books about business and economics.

P.S.  Levitt and Dubner's Freakanomics is also a good choice.

  • Some books I've recently read, not new, but great:

    Water for Elephants

    The Glass Castle

    A Thousand Splendid Suns

Also, if you've never read The Time Traveler's Wife, you should leave work right now and buy the book and spend the weekend reading it. It's aaaaamaaaazing!

  • I would rec the Jen Lancaster books, she is hilarious.
