Flights

Anyone know of any good places to book flights? We are having the hardest time finding decent priced flights.

Re: Flights

  • I always check airlines directly that fly from the airports I am looking it.  Southwest is usually good if they fly there.  Also, then I check kayak.com, travelocity, orbitz, etc.

  • I think on USAir.com there is a feature where you can enter in where you want to go and you have to give a time frame it will come back to you with the cheapest option. We do this for vacations sometimes and we just found a deal for Costa Rica for $279 per person round trip and it is awkward times but we don?t? care. I think we gave a 2 month time window and just let it pick for us since we didn?t care the exact dates. We are leaving out of Baltimore at 5:45am on a Tuesday and we do have an overlay in Charlotte for 3 hours but we have access to the USAir lounge so it isn?t that bad.  We return on the following Wednesday, if we would have changed the dates or times it would cost us more, but we just let them pick the cheapest times and days and planned around that.  We got bumped up to first class for some of our flight as well for free! Can?t wait!

If you have flexibility in when you want to go you can definitely get some good deals.

  • We don't have flexibility because the trip itself is already booked and DH had to take vacation for that week. It stinks because if we were going a week before, flights would be $100 cheaper! Darn it!

I'll have to keep that in mind though for the next time we fly anywhere.

  • Try checking out www.kayak.com.  They search a bunch of sites and consolidate the results for you.  They don't sell the tickets, but they'll provide you links to where they found the lowest price.

They search most of the major airlines websites.  I know they don't search southwest, but I think all of the other major ones are hit...

  • Abby I may be late but we used hotwire to book our flight to Florida this past month. We shopped around at alot of sites and this is the one that saved us the most. We even flew out of Hbg which doesn't happen too often for a good price. Let me know if you have any more questions.
