Probably a longshot, but has anyone gone to any of the readings or lectures here? My SIL's cousin is an author and he will be doing a reading next month. I've never met him, but I am getting subtle pressure from my family that I ought to go and introduce myself, etc. I'll likely cave, but just wondered what to expect (other than me feeling like a huge dork).

Re: ALOUD at the LA Library
I've gone to several.
It's just like going to class, except you don't have to take notes.
And you won't feel like a dork because everyone there is a dork.?
I strongly supect I will feel like a dork at the, "Hello Author, how do you do? You don't know me, but your cousin M is my SIL, etc." portion of the evening.
Here's the breaking event I attended last July.
Other lectures I've attended included readings by authors of both fiction and non-fiction and discussions about modern-day slavery.
Not quite as fun as breaking.
I remember that post; that seemed like a lot of fun.
I am going to this one.
Are you going with anybody? I'd love to come with you. Maybe we can eat before or after, too.
We can discuss on e-mail.?
