I'm working on organizing our house right now, the office needs the most attention. I feel like we have so much paperwork everywhere. I want to get a system set up so its easy to keep ourselves organized once I get it there. What are some things everyone has in place to help keep them organized at home?
Re: Organization
We have a two-drawer filing cabinet with hanging files in in. Each one is labeled with a bill (electric, car insurance, satellite dish, etc). Once we open a bill and put the payment voucher and envelope with our check book, we put the supporting bill in the front of it's hanging file. That way, all of the bills are in order by date, and we can easily find it if necessary. About once or twice a year, we go through the hanging files and shred the bills we no longer want to keep. (like our satellite dish bill from over a year ago, etc)
It will see overwhelming at first, but once you get used to it, you won't know how you lived with all the paper clutter!
Good luck!
Wow, that really puts my organization that I worked on this weekend to shame! Thanks for the link, there are some great ideas in there.
