Hi!
My husband and I are relocating to New Orleans this August and are looking for apartments/houses to rent short term while we get a feel for the area. We will both be working by the University of New Orleans but have heard that the Garden District, Jefferson Parish, and St. Charles Parish are nicer areas to live.
I'm coming down to look, but will have to find a place in 2 days so it would be nice to have a list to go through when I'm there. Any advice on apartment communities or rental houses in the area?
Thanks!!
Re: Relocating from NC
The Saulet is in between Uptown and the CBD and is very nice, but very expensive. The nicer the neighborhood, the higher the price when it comes to living in the city, so maybe Jefferson parish would be your best bet. In Harahan there are several nice apartment complexes. The complexes are all on or near Citrus Blvd. I'm blanking on the names but if you look up Harahan on rent.com you should be able to see a few.
DH and I looked into those when we were looking but got very lucky and were able to purchase. Good luck!
Hi there! and welcome to NOLA! if you will be working at UNO then might I suggest Lakeview. It is very centrally located you can be just about anywhere in the city within 15 minutes and best yet at the lakefront campus of UNO in 10 without driving on a single interstate.
It was one of the areas that had severe flooding but it is in the midst of a renaissance, yes many homes have not yet been rebuilt but it is a place where the most progress has been made. There are rebuilt houses and duplexes for rent in quiet neighborhoods, local shops and restaurants are open with more opening every day. It is also very close to a major shopping corridor along the road named Veterans Memorial Blvd.
The zip code is 70124 if you want to do an internet search first.
