The Oscars - what did you ladies think?
If you watched the Oscars last night, what did you think?
I absolutely loved them and I loved Hugh Jackman as the host. I was happy with who won....namely Kate Winslet, Heath Ledger, and Sean Penn. I also watched most of the red carpet coverage and enjoyed all of the fashion. I just LOVED Kate Winslet's dress and jewels.
Re: The Oscars - what did you ladies think?
I thought they were a step up from previous years. I was happy with a few people who had won . . the ones you mentioned
. I wasn't all that pleased with slumdog millionaire winning though. I haven't seen the movie (and honestly probably won't bc I don't think it would appeal to me) so it is unfair to judge but I really loved Benjamin Button and wanted to see that win.
I also liked how they gave away the awards for best/supporting actor/actress. It was completely different and really honored them being nominated.
I liked Kates dress as well. I've always admired her and her style. I feel she's more normal than most actresses - body image wise and style. I also really liked Taraji Henson's (she played Benjamin Button's Mom) necklace. Usually something like that would be gaudy to me but I feel it went so well with her whole look.
And who knew Diane Lane and Josh Brolin were married?! It seemed like such an unlikely couple to me.
I thought it was too long, I went to bed around 11. I think they could cut back on some of the fluff and hand out the awards faster. I loved Hugh Jackman (esp singing I am Wolverine in between the cardboard Oscars).
I am glad Slumdog won (sorry Jen). The story line was crafted so well, it just flowed and was so powerful. We saw Benjamin Button on Saturday night. It was good but could have been shorter or edited better. We both felt that we watched a movie with all the deleted scenes still in it. Last night Steve was watching the Oscars with me and when editting came up he said if Benjamin Button was nominated I am going to bed (he did).
Last night was the first time I missed cable. There is no good pre-dress goodness on non-cable channels and they do not stream it.
i loved when hugh sang " i am wolverine". LOL.
jen - i like how they gae out the best/supporting awards as well. and ditto to diane lane and josh brolin being married...i had no idea!
I'm sick, so unfortunately I fell asleep before it even started! DH did wake me up when Ben Stiller did his Joaquin Phoenix impression. I've also been looking at pictures online today.
I did not see Slumdog. Was it really all it's hyped up to be? I know the last few years the big winners have been artsy type movies that I usually hate. Was it good???TTC since Jan 07. Dx with PCOS Jan 08
