It's two weeks before the end of school and instead of looking forward to summer I am dreading it- job searching and anxiety is not exactly relaxing. I'm feeling tons of pressure- and then of course someone tells me today "Oh I hear once you start teaching in a Catholic school that is the kiss of death" Fabulous. I have no desire at.all. to teach in Catholic schools any longer- I never wanted to in the first place but it was teaching experience. Sooo, please can I have some nestie job dust? It seems to work for many other Nesties- maybe it will work for me
Pity party over.
Re: Can I have some dust?
aw, katie, that sucks! It really does. I hope you find something over the summer that you will like. There is nothing worse than spending 40-50 hours a week at a place that you dont really care for.
::Job dust for you::
Aww thanks!
Beth, it is not that I hate my job- it's alright. I love teaching and the kids, just not the Catholic School part of it all. I might have stayed- but I don't HAVE a job as of the 25th. We lost a significant amount of students and as one of the newest, I was the first one out. They suck.
I know this wont make you feel better, but I went to Catholic HS and it was teachers like you - that infuriates me about the system. Clearly you seem like a wonderful, dedicated, youthful, understanding, open-minded teacher. It makes me so mad, sad, confused, irate, that they cant keep teachers like you for budget reasons. Sure a lot of teachers use the Catholic system for experience. I totally get that. I cant tell you how many amazing teachers we lost in my 4 years there, for the reason that you are leaving. Of course the last ones are on the losing end, thats any job I think. But let me tell you, there were some trolls in my HS that dont have skills to be working with kids, never mind the fact that they should have retired about 50 years ago and its the youthful, energetic teachers that they lose. UGH!
I truly wish you the best of luck looking for a new job. You seem like a fabulous teacher and any system that gets you, will be blessed. Lots of job dust to you!
Oh man, I really went off the deep end! haha.... Anywayyyyyy.....
GOOD LUCK!!! :-)
I'll send you all the dust you want!
I know you will find something you love.
Thanks ladies! It's stressful, infuriating and just depressing. My DH is ready to kill me. I KNOW I have been annoying lately getting down about it- but I truly LOVE teaching and allI want to do is find a public school (money! benefits! security!) and sit my butt down and teach for the next 40 years.
magirl2nhmrs- that is exactly the problem. There is no money, there are no benefits and there is not much in the way of professional development (other than for religion) It's just not an ideal situation for a young teacher who relies on her paycheck.. some of my colleagues don't "need" jobs and they just love teaching- so it works for them.. I am not in the same boat, sadly
Ann- I live in Goffstown and Nashua has always been one of my top choices. I have applied- many times. A few schools have filled positions but I am holding out hope that some still have openings.
Oh Katie, i am sending you all the dust I can muster, (not a dust buster, a dust muster!)
I know your ideal job is out there, it justs doesn't know it yet. And changes happen over the summer, so don't lose hope!!
BEEP BEEP BEEP! 100 of these, loaded with job dust, on it's way for you Katie! This oughta do it
