Wow! The board has picked up a little since the last time I logged-on.
I just wanted to let you all know that I am back, and will try to become a little more active on the site.
Have a great day!!
Re: Hi ladies!
We would like to go somewhere in July, but haven't figured out where yet. It will definitely be another cruise, so I guess it just depends on where they are traveling to at the time.
We've been talking about Europe, which is something I would LOVE to do.
What about you? You guy's planning on any vacations this year?
I saw your message about your dad in the other post, I'm sorry! I hope that you and your mom are managing alright.
Robert and I have been talking about a Mediterranean cruise forever! Unfortunately I haven't yet been able to justify the cost to myself, one of these days....
Yeah, it's been a hard week and a half, but things are starting to get a little easier. I'm just glad that my brother is able to stay with my Mom for the next couple of months. Plus, me and my sister are going to try to make it to Abq. most weekends for the next few months.
Right now is the time to cruise. As bad as this sounds, ever since the economy starting going downhill, the prices of cruises have been going down too.
Depending on what months you are available to travel, Mediterranean cruises are as low as $540 per person. That is incredibly cheap!! Keith and I have found 14 day cruises to the Mediterranean for about $2,000 per person (flight included) in July.
Look around, and you may be surprised by what you find.
Hi Katy. I responded below about your Dad. It's great your brother is here in ABQ.
I've never made it on a cruise. It's still on my to do list. The Med cruise should be amazing.
We ended up cancelling our big vacation for this year - we were going to go to Guatemala/Honduras/Belize to see Mayan ruins (Nikhil's pick and float in the ocean (my pick). But it looks like state workers will have to take unpaid furloughs or pay cuts starting July-ish. And that would be our vacation money for this year. Plus, Nikhil's brother is getting married this fall and I have a feeling my future SIL is a first class bridezilla and that wedding is going to churn through our vacation money.
Katy, That is good that you have other siblings nearby to help out.
Those prices are really good for including a flight, I'll have to look into them more. Both cruises that we have done have been with Princess, and we really would like to stick with them, but maybe I should look around a little more.
Flame, That sucks! I guess that it is good that you have notice that you might be taking a paycut so you can prepare (like by growing your own veggies
) but it just gives you so long to worry...... Hopefully it won''t turn out to bad and you can rebook that vacation for next year, because it sounds great.
Where will the wedding be? I'm heading back to Alaska next month for my brother's wedding, he and his fiance are doing a courthouse wedding. They decided the date last week, it will be a short trip, but I'm glad I was invited!
Hey Katy! I'm sorry about your dad, but glad your brother is nearby.
We're going to Jamaica at the end of April...it can't get here fast enough. The only thing I'm worried about is that it's about 2 weeks before Mike has his final exams. I have NO clue why he booked it for that week and when I suggested rescheduling I was given a look of death...so I'm just going with it. Something tells me this will end up being very "interesting" since he plans to study while I lay out by the ocean sipping pina coladas. Wish me luck.
