I'm thisclose to a smackdown with someone in travel
Re: I'm thisclose to a smackdown with someone in travel
omg, she's so freakin' pretentious. Love how she mentions she has a friend with a villa on the Riviera or another friend with a summer home in Eisinore...
bleh.
And then she complains about the nest being judgy? Uh, look in the mirror, sista.
Who knew cruises would push my buttons that much.
She got called on it, too.

This. I totally understand cruising not being her "travel style" but why does she have to get up in people's face and convince them it's not theirs either? Lady, there are other things in the world to be upset about, sheesh. ?
That conversation devolved so quickly, and unexpectedly. I can understand cruising not being your thing (it's definitely not mine), but who cares how someone else prefers to spend their vacation time unless it involves killing babies or something?
That said tarinay posts a lot on that board and isn't usually so abrasive (or really abrasive at all), I think she must have been having a really bad day.
Thanks for posting there TTT. Excellent point!

I also love how she assumes that if someone cruises thats all they do.
I've been on a few cruises. Even my travel snob parents LOVE a certain cruiseline (Seaborn). They were fabulous experiences. But thats not all we do.
I think cruises are great. I personally would never do a ton of them (as my only mode of travel) but for certains places and types of travel its great.
She comes off as an elitist. Not everyone has the time to spend weeks in every location, and certainly not everyone has friends with villas.
