Anniversary - ?Melting Pot Restaurant?

My 1 year wedding anniversary is tomorrow. We were thinking of going to The Melting Pot restaurant. Has anyone been there. If so, how do you like it? What would you suggest?

Also, any other romantic restaraunts would be helpful.

Thanks.

Re: Anniversary - ?Melting Pot Restaurant?

  • The Melting Pot is really good but very pricey.  There is a webpage with a menu and prices, so check it out before you go just so you aren't shocked.  I'm a fan of the shrimp and the bread with the cheeses, and of course, the chocolate covered strawberries.

DH and I just celebrated our 2nd anniversary on May 20th.  We had dinner that Tuesday night at Sweet Fire and Ice.  It was the first time we ate there and it was really good.  DH ordered "Al's Favorite Steak" and it was divine!  I almost stole it from him it was so good.  The only downside is that it was not very romantic and is kinda loud.  But on the upside, there was cheesecake and LOTS of it!!!

Hope you and your DH have a great anniversary!

  • First off... Congrats on your one year anniversary!!!

There are, quite literally, hundreds of incredible locally owned non-chain  restaurants in New Orleans. There is no reason to resort to a out of town chain.

For a special, romantic, dinner for  two DH and I enjoy. Muriel's, La Petite Grocery, Iris, Lilette & Cuvee. Bistro Daisy is excellent but can be a bit noisy. Pelican club is always good as is Irene's.

wherever you chose to go, have a great anniversary

  • I went to the Melting Pot several times in Houston. The food is great and you get stuffed when you go. I don't like it so much bc I don't like the 'having to cook it yourself' idea...if I'm going to spend that much money, I want my stuff cooked for me. Haha.. The one good thing about MP is that you will get the quiet, one on one, 'romantic-y' experience....

DH and I also celebrated our 2nd anni on May 20th and we went to Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse in the quarter. My steak was fantastic and his meal was pretty fantastic too! We spent a pretty penny (with wine and app) but without it would've been decent for the anni.

Wherever you go, I hope you have a fantastic evening. Happy Anniversary!

  • Thanks everyone for the warm wishes. We did go to the Melting Pot. I forgot about Sweet Fire & Ice. I love it, need to go back. Anyway, dinner was good. It was romantic. The dessert was the best.
