we're both sentimental schmucks
i just made it clear what shape i preferred for the stone, and left it at that. he proposed with it set in a plain platinum band and then a month before the wedding, he said "okay, pick out the setting you want and let's go get it."
didn't have to ask me twice.
We shopped for bands together ahead of time, and he also went to a lot of trouble to get the diamond from a diamond broker. It touches me that he was looking at all these diamond specs to find the "perfect" one for me. I would be completely devastated if anything ever happened to it.
So yes, I'm a sentimental schmuck ?:)
