How are Winslow Twp. schools the surrounding area?

Sorry for all the questions, I was just talking to my sister.  The area she's looking shows it being Winslow Twp schools--is that the same as Sicklerville schools?  Any feedback on this?  How is resale in general in this area?  They are looking at High Pointe Estates, apparently this section is done and completed, some resales and some spec homes for sale.  Thanks!!

Re: How are Winslow Twp. schools the surrounding area?

  • I have not heard great things. But I am not really familiar with the area either.......
  • I should elaborate......I know you get "more for your money" there, but there is a reason for that. A friend's brother moved there but I can remember them being concerned about the schools. ?I think they've since moved but I haven't seen them in awhile so I don't know for sure why.
  • Winslow Twp used to be the school district to avoid by all costs but within the last 5 years or so it's begun to turn around.  The district now has its own high school whereas before it shared it with several other townships.  I think overcrowding was a huge problem and lead to other problems.

Both of my cousins went to elementary and middle school in the township without problems.

I think with any school its what you make of it.

  • Hey sorry to bust in on ya girls here!  I'm currently on the sj knot because I'm currently helping to plan 3 weddings and I just happened to wonder over here.  Winslow used to be called Edgewood regional highschool....back then it was bad and then after Winslow township took over (the kids from waterford and atco got sent to hammonton, thats basically why Hammonton built a new school because they had to accomodate us) it got worse!!  I would've graduated in the class of 2004!  I am truly happy that I did not stay there and got sent to Hammonton!(even though I loved it there at the time b/c you could get away with murder) I still had friends that stayed there because they were from Winslow...and they hated it.  Don't get me wrong the school is definately improving, however in my opinion I wouldn't send my kids there anytime soon!  I'd have her ook at the neighboring towns...Atco...Berlin borough(they go to Eastern)!!  just me 2 cents!

  • I have a friend who is a teacher at the middle school in Winslow and she said that it was terrible. I also have a friend who's son went to the elementary school and now middle school and said that the schools are not that great. Winslow is also very big so you get a lot of diversity which can  be a good thing or a bad thing. I would definalty think hard about moving to Winslow. HTH.

  • Thanks so much everyone, I also did some more research on it and I'm going to tell them to stay away from it--resale would just be too hard if they decided to leave.  Thanks again!!!

  • I live in Winslow Twp, in Wilton's Corner and it's a very nice area.  As PP said winslow is pretty big and there are some areas that aren't as nice as others.  I think its really the same as any other township/town you live in. The school's them self I hear are improving greatly from what they have been in the past.
  • i live in Sicklerville, the Winslow side, and i would stay away.. Our condo got broken into two days after christmas. My family lived in Wyndam Hill for about 11 years and had to move cause of all the violence and drug activity going on. They live in Waterford Works, a nicer part of the township now. The elementary scools in Winslow arent bad, its just the High School that has a poor reputation.
