Snow Day??

It's been awhile since I've posted...

Any other teachers out there praying for a snow day? WGAL is saying 5-8 inches!

Re: Snow Day??

  • I'm just hoping that it snows all night so there is no question in the morning.

  • While I live here, I teach in MD, and their forecasted snow amounts are MUCH higher than what they're calling for up here.  Unfortunately, tomorrow is day 1 (of 2) of conferences for us, so it would be annoying to have to reschedule.  I only have 2 confirmed for tomorrow evening, but I know another nestie (bridz2b) has TEN scheduled for tomorrow, and she's not alone in that amongst our teachers, I'm sure!

Whatever happens... hope everyone stays safe!

  • Oh yeah that would suck! Conferences are a pain in the butt to schedule in the first place- rescheduling them would be awful. We don't have anything planned for the next two weeks except cramming for PSSA's....FUN FUN!
  • I'm all for the snow day this time!!  I usually hate to lose planned vacations, but I'm okay with it this time!  We'd have to make it up over Easter, but it means we won't have to work a 2nd extra day after the kids' last day in June (we have a weird contract!).
  • Ugh, I'm on the fence for this one! As Ashlee said, I have 10 scheduled conferences tomorrow with parents who are very hard to schedule to begin with. If they cancelled, I have no idea whether or not they'd provide another half scheduled day for students, or if we'd have to use our own time (can't see how they can make us do that with the contract) to make them up.

That being said, I've been working on a master's paper for my case study child since 9 am this morning and feel literally crazy at this point. I still have my conference papers to fill out as well. Normally I'm done with these things a week in advance, but between having a written midterm that was due less than a week ago and my birthday, I'm feeling crunched!

Some extra relaxation time would be nice tomorrow, but then it creates another headache... ?

  • Oh, and MSA is 10 school days away. For anyone out there who deals with AYP understanding my pain right now. And this year's group needs every second of crunch time possible!
  • I definitely understand. It's been 3 years since we've made AYP...of course we made it once so they raised the bar even higher. It's incredibly stressful!
  • So far, we've been fine with AYP but I think our administration is worried this year...as is everyone since it keeps going higher. This year we have a low class in general (although I also have G&T kids two years above at least) which is making us even more nervous.?

    GL!?

  • You have to love Maryland...11 closings listed already on one of the news sites.  It's crazy!

  • We have a lot of kids with IEP's and it seems impossible to be able to give them all the accommodations that they need. They don't really take that into consideration though. I'm going to be so relieved when it's over with. GL to you too!
  • I really hope we don't get what they are calling for and that it ends up being minimal.  I have to teach 2 Pilates classes tomorrow one at 7 AM and one at 5:15 PM and this is the last week of the current session so I don't want to have to reschedule for next Monday when I have off!
  • Hey Lindsay!

I really doubt we will get much to warrant a snow day. We'll see.

  • Hey Abbie :) I don't know. It says that York and Lanc are going to get the worst of it. Schools in Downingtown and Berks are already closed for tomorrow. I'm trying not to get my hopes up :)
  • I am on break this week, which is nice, but we are renovating our kitchen tomorrow so I am really hoping that it isn't too bad! We need to get our supplies in the morning!

  • fun fun! we have plans to do a lot of renovations this summer. neither of us are very handy, so we'll probably end up paying people to do it for us haha
  • Stacey, 11 already?! Ok, maybe I'll stop writing my paper now and skip the conference forms and do them in the am : )
