Those who delivered at East Jefferson

Can you tell me about your experience?  Any insight you have is appreciated!  Thanks.

Re: Those who delivered at East Jefferson

  • I delivered at EJ.  What sort of questions do you have? I found my overall experience good.  However, I was a high risk pregnancy with pre-eclampsia (I was on a bed rest a few weeks before I had DS and he was 3 weeks early).  So with that being said I didn't have the completely normal experience.  I didn't find anything bad, except my 1st nurse really couldn't do anything on her own.  She couldn't find my veins (but nobody really could bc I was so incredibly swollen)...but she couldn't put a catheter in either.  After that though I had only great nurses.

  • Thanks for your reply!  I'm really looking for any info I can get about the facility and experiences delivering there.  I plan on delivery there in September but don't really know anything about the hospital.  I haven't lived in the area long enough to ever go to that hospital for any reason plus it's my first child.
  • I would suggest taking the classes that EJ offers.  The prenatal classes were very comforting and made me feel at ease.  You also receive tours of the hospital on the tour, which I really liked!

  • Congrats on your pregnancy. I delivered at Ochnser and it was great, but I know two people who've delivered at EJ within the past 2 years and they both loved it. My SIL delivered there 7 years ago and didn't like it much. If you have specific birthing ideas/plans (med-free, minimal intervention) or anything like that, just discuss them beforehand. Most places are pretty accommodating. Good luck!!
