Yay for the Builder Show!

We went to get ideas/information about hardwood flooring for our first floor and ideas for our basement.

Instead we found a local countertop place (Mechanicsburg) that does granite and its a place where you actually get to pick the slab you want!  Woohoo!  Every time we've been somewhere that does counters DH asks if you get to pick your slab and they say no you pick from the little swatch.  Not this place...and the guy was super nice and helpful.

There's a small chance I *might* be able to get my granite kitchen counters before the end of the year Yes  The rough estimate prices sounded better than going with a place like HD or Lowe's plus less headaches in terms of templating, etc.  They also carry the granite sink I want so another win-win :)

We need to make an appointment to talk with them more and take a door sample from our kitchen but I'm seriously thinking about Giallo Ornamental then later doing a white or cream subway tile backsplash.

Re: Yay for the Builder Show!

  • I am excited to go, especially since DH brought up adding an addition on his own.  He wants to build in the area where we have our side porch, I always envisioned it on the rear of the house.  We need to lots of other smaller things though before we tackle that big project. Still I am excited to check out the latest and greatest.  I think we will go with radiant floor heat when we do add on, I hope there are some vendors for that there.

Yay for the countertops, that granite will go well with the newly painted cabinets.  If we ever go that route I totally want to pick out our slabs.  I like the larger grained pegmatites like Baltic Brown.

  • that's awesome jen...i can't wait to see the after pictures when you do the upgrade!
