My RE has me on lock down

I knew it would be super strict for the first 10 days after transfer but I just found out I'm on light duty for another month. No lifting over 10lbs, no working out of any kind, no twisting or straining my abdominals at all plus all the normal pregnant no nos. I have to catch a flight to Chicago by myself on Sunday. I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with the 10lb thing traveling across the country! Is this normal for IVF girls?

Re: My RE has me on lock down

  • I don't think it's typical, no. After my second beta, I was allowed to do low-impact exercise. No one ever mentioned a limit on weight I could lift. I was limited to low-impact exercise until my first u/s only b/c my ovaries were huge.

  • I didn't do IVF but because of spotting I was restricted to 20 lbs max but preferably keeping it to 10-15 lbs. for the whole first tri and it sucked. Do you have a suitcase with wheels? I would do that and just ask for help. Tell the stuartess that you can't lift a lot if weight and ask them to help with putting your carry on in the overhead thing and see if there is a worker to toss your checked luggage (if you have any) on to the belt for you. The taxi driver might help you (they do in the movies!) get your stuff into the trunk if you are taking a taxi.

Also, we'll be in Chicago this weekend too! But we're leaving on Saturday to head back home since W will have to leave for another week of work on Sunday afternoon. Too bad you're not flying in until Sunday!

  • We've been before and love Chicago!! I'd recommend the sears tower (now its Willis but I still call it sears because I'm a rebel) and the shedd aquarium isn't bad. I like Ripley's aquarium at Myrtle Beach better. W thinks that the natural history museum has (or used to have) a complete dinosaur skeleton. I'm hoping to talk him into visiting that and the art museum. We'll go back to the sears tower because we want to see the new glass ledge they put in. We went in 07 and 08 (6 months apart) for a work trip for W. I went for the free vacation. They have river tours but W won't do them. I really want to though. I also like to walk along the Navy Pier. We walked everywhere and didn't take a taxi ever. We did take the bus once but couldn't figure out how to tell them to stop. We're total country bumpkins!

  • Oh and it is crazy expensive ($80/plate) but we totally plan on going to Gibson's Steakhouse for the best steak ever. Last time his work paid and we split one plate and still needed a box! Not sure if we'll share again or just pig out entirely!
