egpitt- disney question

Emmy - I tried to post this as a response to your blog post but it didn't work from my phone so figured I'd post here - has anyone mentioned to you about pin trading? If not let me know & I'll tell you what I know in case you are interested for Jake - Liam may be too little although if he is like Eamon he'll want to do whatever his big bro is doing...

  • I've read about pin trading, wasn't really sure if Jake was old enough for it or not.  what are your thoughts on it?  I was going to do autograph books, I figured both boys would like that (like Eamon, Liam would have to do it if Jake does it!)

  • We made a purchase at one of the shops last year, and got a free pin trading kit because of how much we bought.

Jackson loved the lanyard, but didn't want to trade any of his starter pins, even though there were much cooler ones available.

It might be fun for Jake, even if all he does is wear his lanyard.

  • The girls did it when we went a few years ago - Keira was a little over 2 at the time.  My girlfriend bought us the lanyards & a few pins & they really got into it.  Basically you go up to Disney workers (most if not all have pins) & trade your pins for ones you like better.  So the key is not spend a lot of $$ on really nice pins b/c you trade up.  Hard for the kids to grasp b/c they want the neat ones right away & want to keep them (I tried to drill in their head, buy cheap trade up!). Overall it was fun just to see the girls go from not wanting to ask anyone at all to approaching a worker out of the blue to trade for a neat pin.  They got into it.  Autograph books may work better for their ages but something to keep in mind.

  • Ebay!! Search for Disney pin lot and you'll find a bunch for cheap if you're interested. I have a big "kid" who really enjoys it. ;)
