They didn't do my root canal. Their stupid nitrous oxide machine had a friggin leak in the hose, so they couldn't use that. I was SO anxious and worked up about the whole thing. I thought I would be a big kid and try it without the nitrous, so they put some numbing gel on my tooth and I gagged a little bit. (It's tooth #30, one of my back ones). The Dr. says "Are you a gagger too?" So he says, let's try the cotton and see how you do. Nope. Gagging. I couldn't even handle the damn cotton being around my tooth. Then combined with his mirror, the suction, etc. I couldn't stop gagging. It was horrible. They didn't even do anything. To top it all off, I was so worked up I started crying in the damn chair.
He said my best option is to go to a sedation dentist. Which there just happens to be in my town, except our insurance doesn't cover there. Awesome. SO unless I can find a sedation dentist that does take my insurance, to have the root canal done there, but only other option is go to an oral surgeon and have it extracted.
THIS is why I don't go to the freaking dentist!!!!!!
AAARGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, everyone distract me for the rest of the day!
Re: F the dentist
Boo JLQ!!! I hope it all works out in the end. Maybe you should try again when you aren't soo worked up. Just put your big girl panties on and get it done. If your tooth is bad enough that you need a root canal you really need to get it taken care of before it harms something else. Good Luck Sweetie!
Anybody want to talk about the PED baseball suspension? Thoughts??
Also where is the spell check button?

A sedation dentist sounds amazing. What's wrong with your tooth? Does it hurt now? I've never had a root canal so I'm not sure what they are for.
Oral surgeons aren't so bad. I hate hate hate the dentist like you do (and would probably fall apart at the suggestion of a root canal), but the oral surgeon was no big deal. He took out all four of my impacted wisdom teeth under general anesthesia. In and out, very little pain, etc. Don't fear the oral surgeon like you fear the dentist - very different animals.
