Hey ladies! Hope you've all been well.
I announced a while back that I was pregnant. Everything is looking good so far with that. I will be 12 weeks on Thursday.
I wanted to tell you guys some other news that I found out about a month ago though. I never thought Justin and I would be facing something this big in our first year of marriage. At the time I got pregnant they found a nodule on my thyroid. I had a biopsy done because it was quite large at 2.99 cm. the biopsy came back and it's cancer. With me being pregnant it makes us have to wait to do treatment. Of course, they will be monitoring its growth and if necessary will do surgery during 2nd tri but they will most likely wait. After baby is here and I have a total thyroidectomy I will also have to have radioactive iodine treatment to kill any remaining cancerous cells. I won't be able to be around Justin or the baby and he will in essence be taking care of a newborn by himself. I know his mom will help but it's a lot to handle for a first time dad.
Needless to say this is not what we expected when we got pregnant and I'm so scared of everything but I know in the end we'll be ok. I hope none of you other ladies ever have to face this. It's not something I would wish on my worst enemy!
Re: Update: bad news included
I am just getting around to read everything that has been posted here and I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this. I hope that everything will be okay for both you and the baby.
I do want to say that a woman in another office that I work with had a similar thing happen to her. She had the surgery and the same treatment that you described. She was back on her feet in no time. I think that she was out of work for about a month with everything, but now you would never know that she went through any type of treatment.
Keep your head up and remember that we are all here for you if you need to talk.
