What did you call your LO before birth?

It seems so weird to just refer to the baby as "it".....
Congrats to my TTC buddy Madeline! Cheering for all the strong 3T ladies!

Re: What did you call your LO before birth?

  • We didn't really have a nickname. We just called him "the baby."

I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.
  • We were team green and at 8 weeks we went on a family vacation and we all started referring to baby as Raspberry and the nickname stuck.

DH and his buddy named the embryos we transferred GT2 & GT3 after some fancy cars. We call whatever is in my belly now "the GTs". I walk in the house to "how are the GTs treating you" or "are you taking care of the GTs"?

  • DD was Chilkat and DS was Chilkoot. We were on a cruise to Alaska when we were TTC DD and my H asked if he could name our kids Chilkat and Chilkoot if we had twins after a tour we went on (mts/passes in Alaska). I said yep sure. We found out the day we got back that I was pregnant with DD and the name stuck. When i got pregnant the second time we had to use the other name. Better than actually naming them that, right? :)

  • Not sure. Probably just the baby. When we knew it was a boy we would use his name but it felt weird before birth. I'm sure we had names but nothing inparticular that comes to mind that was a constant.
Thanks to our wonderful RE our family is complete!

  • Little gator and jelly bean were the nicknames early on.  Once we were set on a name we started calling her by name.

  • We were in the car one day when I referred to baby as "it" and DH called me out. When I asked what he'd rather call baby (we were team green) he said, "I don't know, Fernando?!" I laughed so hard it stuck. Apparently he'd been watching That 70s Show and the Abba song was on it shortly before that car ride.

  • Our kid has lots of names, depending on who we're talking with. Most of the time we call it peanut, tiny c, or the littlest ourlastname. With my dad, its either Stanley or lafawnduh, since those are the names we told him we were considering.

  • DH has been asking how "His Sweeties" are doing.  I've been calling the baby Sweet Pea.  Once we find out the gender, we'll refer to the baby by name.  We won't be keeping the name a secret.

  • Just "the babies." Because we're creative like that. Maybe that will change when we find out their sexes.

  • "Raspberry" (when we found out LO was the size of a raspberry) or just "baby."

  • We were team green so I just said "baby" or "the baby". My sister started calling the baby "Herman" and then the whole family started saying it. M is going to love that story when she's older! Lol

  • So far, baby is just "baby". DH also sometimes refers to baby as "mather"... half matt and half heather. We may start using his/her name when we find out the sex in 2 weeks, but baby might just stick until birth.

  • I just call them "The babies" or if I am talking to them "Babies."  Even when we choose names, I won't refer to them by it and I won't let other people either.

Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
  • We just called him Baby. And then once we found out it's a boy, we started calling him Arthur. Even though we are not 100% set on that name...Feel like its just going to stick though since we are so used to calling him that already.
