Baby throwing up after pool

The last two weeks we've had picnics at places with pools.  We've taken e in and he may have gotten a tiny bit of water in his mouth but it was negligible.  He never went under or drank it.  Then after a bit he ate.

Both weeks he's taken a nap and thrown up in his sleep. Fortunately he's been on his belly and sitting in a carseat the two times.  He's not one to throw up. He never throws up actually.  Any ideas? Is he seasick? The probably sounds dumb but I have no idea. Am I doing something wrong? He seems happy and content but just throws up.  We have vacation soon I don't want him throwing up the whole time!!

  • How long after he ate did he swim? Could it be motion sickness with too much in his belly?
  • he swam and then ate... I'd say  he ate a half hour to 45 minutes after he swam?

eta- he's also getting tubes in a week and a half because he has fluid behind his eardrums.  Could it be from that like sea sickness??

The vestibular nerve (which controls balance) runs along side the cochlea and the eustachian tube.  Fluid in that area can cause feelings of vertigo/nausea.

  • I called the pedi and got "we have no idea what is causing it" so I have to just keep an eye on him. My fear is him throwing up in his sleep and choking so hopefully it goes away!!

  • Tommy throws up now almost every time he's in the pool.  He also gets the runs which is super fun.  I think it's because he tends to gulp the water and I think the chlorine makes him sick.  It makes me never want to take him the pool.
