Captain Barnacle needs to die. he wakes me up every morning between 5:00 and 5:30.
who wants to come and have chicken for dinner? or chicken nuggets at my 31 party?
Re: my rooster needs to die
I would love some chicken!
Growing up, our neighbors across the street had chickens... of course it was closest to my side of the house.
@nestcayla - I'm refering your question to my dad... and google. Google says both, but more than likely you eat roosters because you don't need as many to fert the eggs.

I asked my cousin who hunts (my uncle's son) -- this is what he said "both hens and roosters are chicken. You could be eating either. The hens taste better though"
Interesting... I wonder if it's common for people to go into a store and ask their butcher if the chicken is a hen? I never even thought about it until now!
@NestCayla I didn't know that hens tasted better than rooster! interesting
and I have 3 hens and a rooster. the quick version of my getting this special gift from my MIL is this. about a year and a half ago I mentioned to her that I wanted chickens so we could all have fresh eggs and she should get a cow so that we could have fresh milk. and that was certainly a wine induced conversation but I was kinda really into it! so then a couple of months ago my FIL showed up at their house (which is a farm) with a cow! and my MIL said, and your chickens will be at your house on Tuesday. eek! my IL's used to have a dairy farm and a chicken house so this is all right up their alley.
so I didn't want a rooster but she saw him when she went to get the hens and thought he was pretty so I ended up with a rooster too.
