Vaccine Research

Anyone have any specific articles/research that helped you decide whether or not to follow the usual vaccine schedule for your LOs?  If so, would you mind posting it for me?  Thanks!

One of the big things for me is that my son clearly experienced a lot of leg soreness from the vaccines, which I imagine is similar to the lingering soreness I experience. I would like to get that all out of the way in one visit rather than put him through that over and over again.

  • I also elected to get flu and Tdap vaccinations during pregnancy so that I would pass antibodies to him and hopefully provide him with some protection right away. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/adults/rec-vac/pregnant/whooping-cough/get-vaccinated.html

Any idea why I keep getting duplicate comments? So annoying! And I can't delete!

  • I am following the regular recommended schedule based on the fact that I don't feel I am more qualified than people who dedicate their life and careers to studying, doing research and providing recommendations based upon that. Their is no study or solid evidence to prove there is anything wrong with what is recommended by the CDC.

It'd be different if my child experienced or had a medical reason (ie an adverse reaction) due to the vaccines. And like pp stated why spread them out and make them uncomfortable on more occasions than necessary?

  • I did my own research specifically with the CDC and AAP but another thing I did was talk to her pediatrician because she gets the most recent research and she knows what she is doing. She doesn't push anything but she definitely has the facts to back her up and that makes me trust her!

  • We decided to go with the regular schedule.  It made me nervous to give him all that at once, but better to be safe than sorry.  Also, like what BSD said - G had a LOT of leg soreness so I'm glad we got it out of the way all at once.

  • Definitely talk to your ped if you are considering an alternate vax schedule. Ours does, but you have to be caught up by the next round of shots, or else you won't be allowed in the office. I'm doing regular schedule for all the reasons listed above.
