Mine Mine Mine Mine Mine Mine

Morning Ladies! Hopefully today is a good day! H comes home today so it is looking up already.

E: Thanks for encouragement! I am not sure if my boss knows about my dyslexia. It is not something I usually tell people. I have tried to explain to him that I don't learn the way he is asking but I don't think he gets it. I spoke to a coworker who spoke to our boss's boss and it was decided that I am to have an open discussion with my boss next week. My coworker and boss's boss can be on the phone if I would like. I am going to take the weekend and think about it. Unfortnately I don't know if I can have the open discussion because it is a topic I am quite emotional about. Something that I was teased about a lot of my life. In other news... so jealous about that concert. Glad you had an amazing time. Also very glad your leg is doing better. Hope work calms down and you can come back and play.

JLQ: How did the book shopping go? When do classes start again? So exciting!!

  • HI! @degrea ( I really don't know what exactly that does, just have to try it)  Do you get an email? or a notification when you get on here?

I hope your open discussion goes well with your boss, that is really frustrating and isn't helping anyone.   I have faith it will go well.

I am done with work for the day. wahoo :D

  • Hello!!

Degrea - I definitely think you should have the discussion with your boss, and if it was me, I'd take the support of your co-worker being there for it. I know it will be hard, but I would do it. We'll send you Nestie love!!

Book buying went. hah! It's really weird, because you just print your schedule, hand it to one of the ladies, then they go collect your books for you. I only needed 2 books, 1 lab packet, and an access card. Classes start on the 19th! ah! I'm not ready!!

  • What are you taking this semester @jlq2005? Is the prework for the program? I should know but I forget :-\ I am a bad friend.

  • Hello ladies!

Degrea - just remember, it doesn't define who you are.  It's something that you've obviously learned to live with and doesn't limit what you can do or how well you can perform.  It's not something to be ashamed of or embarrassed by (not saying you are but some of the students I deal with are), you just find a work around and move on.  Like you said, you just learn a different way (and that's okay!!)  I completely understand being emotional about it because it's something that's very personal but I have high hopes that good things will come from your discussion.  Like jlq said, we're here for you!  Enjoy your time with DH tonight!

jlq - have you gone school supply shopping yet?!  That was my favorite.

Aggie - did your sister ever get her living situation figured out?  I remember awhile ago that their house fell through but didn't know if they found something else.  How are they liking Michigan?

  • Thanks for the Knottie Love! You gals are truly the best.

JLQ: That sounds like some fun classes. Except for the Anatomy part, yuck!

  • E- yuppers they bought a new construction house and moved in about 3 wells ago now. This move has been quite the adventure for them. With 2000 lbs missing from pickup to drop off and much more damaged. To mold growing in the pantry X_X it seems one adventure to the next. I think life is still pretty isolated for them right now since the kids arent in school and their block isn't fully built yet but such is the life of a military family. They settle in pretty quick.

Jlq I thought so. Very fun! I am excited for you.

And degrea yay for H coming home!

  • E - I did go school supply shopping! I didn't need very much ...I would have bought more but DH told me not to because he can just get stuff from school. So I just browsed around Staples, bought some nice pens, notebooks, a planner, and a binder. Kind of lame. I can't even justify buying a new backpack (do you think college students still use those?!) because I still have a good one.

  • I would be surprised if college students used backpacks. Come to think of it I never used one. I had an over the shoulder bag that I used. I will ask the interns when I get in tomorrow about the backpack thing.

  • I'm going to be that old lady nerd who uses a 2-strap backpack! ahahahahhahah!!!!
Maybe I should try to find a cheap over-the-shoulder bag? I have a purse like that and I love it. So a backpack like that could be nice.

  • I used a backpack for undergrad and vet school. And I think it was very common to have backpacks.

This.  I used a backpack all through undergrad.  Most of our students use backpacks as well.

  • Aggie - glad to her they got the housing situation figured out even though it hasn't been the greatest experience so far.  Hopefully they can settle in once the kids start school :)
