Do you think your DH could handle being pregnant?

Silly question, I know.

J has been so sick for the past few days, he swears he is dying. He has a cough and he would be on bed rest if he could.

So this got me thinking. If men could get pregnant and go through what us woman go through, do you think they would survive?

I personally don't think my own husband could handle it. He threw up once a few months ago and he was being such a wimp about it. Like honestly I have had M/S since day 1 up until today and while I'm on meds for it, I do throw up every once in a while but I'm still a trooper.

So, do you think your DH could handle being pregnant?

  • Not even for five freakin minutes. He admitted it too.

  • Absolutely not. He thinks he could, but no. He also couldn't handle breast feeding.

  • Lol! I love all three answers so far!!
  • My H had bad gas yesterday and was like, "I think I feel like I'm having my period. My belly hurts." Poor guy. I had to laugh at home and tell him he had no idea. He absolutely could not handle pregnancy. Such a whiner.

  • Absolutely no way. With the amount of m/s I had and the constipation he would have declared a national emergency. If he's sick the entire household must stop and pay attention.

  • @saralynn, I couldn't have said it better myself!! :D

Hahaha, they really do not have any idea!
  • Absolutely not. He doesn't understand why I'm tired all the time and still thinks that with my growing belly I can do all the house work I used to (apparently including gardening) without feeling like I'm going to die.

When we first learned I was pregnant, he got sick (pretty much a head cold) and didn't move from the couch and took off from work. I had pretty severe nausea from M/S and was on time for work every day.

  • @penn men are such babies. They think we exaggerate but when they get sick it's the end of the World!
  • Nope, definitely not. He can barely handle having a cold. Lol

  • Not a chance.

  • My DH is pretty good about when he gets sick. He powers through and I have to make him rest and take care of himself but pregnancy? No not a chance. He thought I was over exaggerating all the time. He didn't believe the 1st tri exhaustion and thought if I wasn't actually throwing up then my morning sickness must have been gone. I don't know why but unless the doctor told him how bad things were he would just act like I was being a whiny baby about it all.

I wish he could go through it next but even if he could he would probably end up being one of those perfect pregnancies with little to no negative symptoms and he would be all like really you thought this was bad? I feel fine :/

Clearly I have thought too much about this.

  • Nope.  I'd shoot him because of all of the complaining he would do.  Luckily he was a trooper and took a lot of pitty on me when I was pregnant and didn't expect me to do much!  :)

  • I don't think I can answer fully. My DH has only been sick once in the 8 years I've known him. He was just really quiet and out of it but not very whiny.

When he hears about my aches or pains or just things that could happen he looks terrified, so based on this I would say no.
