I'm looking into starting a play group for preemies...  I don't think we'd meet too often but I thought it would be good for the kids and the parents to have a place to discuss thoughts/concerns/issues that are preemie related.  It would be free of course and the location could move to keep it convenient for everyone.

if you are interested please let me know on here or by PM.
Thanks!!

ETA- Although my son is 14 months it could be for different ages... we could just keep the older kids away from the babies.

Re: Preemie Moms

  • Why just for preemies? Is it more of a support thing for parents, but a bring your kid along and play kinda thing? Or are you thinking for when they are tee tiny and need to be more quarantined (is that the right word)?

  • Both... but mostly for the parents to have a group of people to talk to who understand what they are going through.  The woman who asked me if I would start one specifically mentioned that she felt judged by other parents because her child was behind where he "should be" due to being a preemie so she wanted somewhere that he could play without being concerned with that.

If 3 is not too old, I'd be interested.  We still have developmental issues from her being a preemie.  Good idea.  I think it's good for preemie parents to be able to vent, ask questions, share tips, and generally relate to something that others may not understand.
I could also see expanding it to NICU babies in general.

  • I'd say any age... parents of older preemies/ NICU babies (I'd have no qualms with that!) could really help us out!
