Has anyone seen any good sales on iPads recently? My mom's 60th birthday is coming up, and my sister and I want to get her an iPad. I know they rarely go on sale, but I was hoping that someone might be running a "back to school" deal we could take advantage of. Thanks for any help you might have for us :)

    I usually buy a refurb one from Apple.com and have never had a problem. I've bought 3 as gifts this way...

    The only deal we found was getting the iPad 2 instead of the newer one $400 vs $600. My dad got my mom one for Mother's Day. He splurged, well I did since he sent me to do it!  ;) Plus she likes having the option of getting a data plan with AT&T and that isn't an option on the iPad 2, they are wifi only.  Nathan got me the 2 for my birthday and I really can't tell that much of a difference between mine and my mom's besides the camera on the iPad 2 kinda sucks.

    Although when we went to buy my mom's the girl at the Apple store made me feel stupid for even considering the 2 and it "old technology". I then proceeded to tell her that my husband had just bought me a 2 and it works perfectly fine and was $200 cheaper! She then backed off and got us out of their really fast. 

    Nathan got mine at Target and if you have a Target card you could get 5% off.

    I do have a target card. My mom wants it for playing Candy Crush, checking her email and surfing the web. I don't think she needs the newest technology for that :-)

    Then the iPad 2 would be perfect cause that is what I use mine for and it works perfectly. My mom had the original and since my dad was paying, what the heck! He shouldn't give me a credit card.  :P

    The iPad 2 does have 3G options so its not wifi only. However, a refurb iPad 2 wifi is $319. They are essentially brand new and come with the same warranty. This is all the techie husband gets when we get them for gifts or munchkins....

    Are you associated with a school at all?  I believe that Mac Outfitters offers an educational discount.  Don't quote me on that, though!
