would you consider letting your house be on tv?

We were approached by a local production company about using our house in a show. They left us a message. I'm debating whether it's worth our time to call back and discuss further.

Would you consider it? Why or why not?

  • ooooh!  Exciting to be called for something like that, no matter what you decide!

It would depend, what's it for, do you know?  If it was an HGTV kind of thing where they come over and fix up a bunch of stuff for me, I might consider it!

  • Emmy, definitely not HGTV. That I'd jump at no questions asked. I've even applied for those shows :-*

Apparently they're filming some new tv show here and want to use a Victorian house as someone's home.

  • ahhh....I see.  In that case, it would depend on the monetary compensation.  Just being honest!

  • I would do it in a heartbeat. Casey works on the local films/tv shows that shoot here and a lot of times they pay homeowners VERY WELL for the inconvenience. Call them back! They have all kinds of insurance and safe measures to ensure your home is not damaged.

  • Ryan, that's great to hear. Thanks for the input.

  • I think it's a sliding scale based on what parts of your house they use, like interior vs. exterior. It definitely wouldn't hurt to call. I know tv pays less than movies but depending on what they want to do and how long they want to use it, it may really be worth your while! Good luck.

  • Do it!! I want to watch the show so I can be all "ooh! It's Lisa's kitchen!" Lol!

  • I would, especially if I could avoid being part of the show (the sole responder who does not want to be on an HGTV show)
  • I just read an article in the PG I think about a homeowner that was approached to have her home used in a recent movie. Her thoughts on it are in the article
