Re: What did you do for your 1st Wedding Anniversary?

  • It was just a few weeks ago. Our plans got screwed up and we didn't have a babysitter, so we went to dinner and took the kids. No gifts, and nothing fancy, we're boring lol.

  • We went to Philly the actual weekend of our anniversary.  We stayed in a super nice hotel, did the Franklin Institute one day, had a fancy dinner, and went to the Phillies game the following day.

We drove down to SC the following weekend for a week at the beach/Charleston.
  • We always go away for a long weekend around our anniversary.  Our 1st anniversary it was to Assateague.

  • I did bound our photos for him. He bought me airline tickets to visit NYC. We had recently moved from there and I was homesick.

  • We rented a condo in the poconos!
  • We've been thinking about going away for the weekend.  Not sure if it'll be our anniversary wedding, since we'll be in NC the weekend before for Ryan's bday, and a wedding.  I've been looking into Atlantic City, Williamsburg, St Michael's or Annapolis... but I'm getting overwhelmed.  Jeff really doesn't care, but I think he wants to go to AC.  I hate always making the decisions!

  • We spent the weekend before in TX with Grant. The day of we went to Longwood Gardens and out to dinner at Capers N Lemons. We would have to probably considered a short trip if we hadn't been away the weekend before and weren't going to Germany 2 weeks after. I vote for you to go to Williamsburg because I love it there and haven't been there in forever!!!

  • @uderin02 -  I'm leaning towards Williamsburg... but I feel like it's not new for H.  He was stationed in that area for 5 years.  But he does know where everything is haha.  I've never been besides the day trip to Busch Gardens we went on 3 years ago.  I think H is leaning towards AC.

  • @mana what about a beach town near AC? We went to Ocean City, NJ for our second anniversary and took day trips to AC both days.  Ocean City was a really cute town with a main drag with lots of cute boutiques and antique stores and a big boardwalk.

  • @beebe918 everytime I search for Ocean City, NJ I get Atlantic City hotels.  Grrr!

  • Now that I think about it there might not be any actual hotels in OC, NJ.

http://www.ocmansion.com/ this is the B&B we stayed in.  We had a groupon and I thought it was nice for the groupon price but I'm not sure I would pay full price for it.  Maybe search for B&Bs in OC, NJ?

Also keep an eye on groupon getaways, maybe you'll see a good deal for somewhere and that will make your decision for you!

  • How about Margate, NJ? It's supposed to be super cute. I have a friend who moved there and loves it.

  • @mana8503 hmmm, did he do all the touristy stuff when he lived there?  Thank you for suggesting this place...just told J we need to go for a long weekend after the baby is born since I'll be off from work anyhow!

AC can be fun though too, but I agree with trying to stay outside of the AC hotels if you can find one.  I love the casino hotels, but being away from all of that would be more relaxing.

Have you thought about DC?  There is alot to do there also.  We stayed in a hotel in Herndon, VA when we went last year (about 20 mins south of DC by the airport) and just drove into the city and paid to park for the day.

  • We didn't do anything :/ We had our top layer of our cake but we were still adjusting to having T so I don't remember doing anything.... I second going to a b&b somewhere on the Jersey shore! I wanted to do that before we had T but we never got around to it.

  • We went back to Aruba, but we normally go every year around our anniversary. We didnt go this year though since we took Chase to Disney.

I think Williamsburg would be really fun. There are so many great places to eat and shop and drink! Ohh that sounds like a great trip.

I lied. We went to a Phillies game that day. Clearly I had a great time because I remembered it so clearly....

I was just researching Williamsburg. Go there! It looks like it would be a fun weekend trip.
