I have a friend who regularly brings us pastries from a bakery in Boston every once in awhile. Mike's for those of you familiar. He knows that cannoli are a weakness and indulgence for me and he without fail brings me one to me whenever he goes in to town. He never expects anything back, money or otherwise, but I can't help but feel the need to do something nice for him. I'm a reasonable baker so I was thinking of baking something and dropping it off for him. I live in the land of sub par bakeries, so returning the favor isn't really an option without an hour or so drive.
My question is, if you were to receive some sort of dessert item, what would you like? I can do cakes, cookies and cheesecakes no problem. However, I'm happy to have an excuse to branch out and try something new. He's not a big peanut butter fan (no allergy) so I'm going to pass on that. I think other than that, all bets are off. I think I'd prefer something that could last a couple of days fresh, but be frozen if need be.
What do you think?
