Re: Tuesday Randoms

  • Random---- Someone brought in 5 sleeves of oreos and out in the work room...... they are evil and find myself picking up 2 every time I pass by. EVIL I tell you.

I currently have nothing to plan or research (like a vacation, party etc) and it is driving me nuts. Sickness I tell you. :)

I've had heart burn since yesterday and can't seem to get it to go away. Haven't had heartburn in ages.

That is all I got today!

  • EJ's Kindergarten letter arrived today!  Confirmation finally that she is in the AM class, and also excited she will have the same teacher her BFF had last year.  I think that will make her feel more comfortable with the changes.  I can't believe she starts in 3 weeks!

adjusting to new reading glasses sucks.  My eyes hurt.

i have to grocery shop after work.  Skipping going on Sunday was a good idea. We enjoyed the day home relaxing. but I hate weeknight shopping too.

We got Adam's the other day We got AM too! YAY!!  But he starts in 2 WEEKS!! on the 26th. which brings me to my vent:

I am annoyed that we found out sooo LATE and that there is no teacher info or supply list.

Orientation is the 20th 8:30-10 AM So now I have to wait until 6 days before school starts to find out if we need anything and get the shopping done. That is a Busy week for us with Meet the teacher night Thursday evening, my nieces first Birthday Party Sunday that i'm gonna have to try to get the cake done for, and another Party Sat. Maybe Ian will have a more predictable sleep pattern by then... Maybe....

Luckily I am on leave with Ian, But how do they just expect working people to take off and attend orientation a 8:30-10 am??? Some jobs are more flexible then others but this is also pretty short notice to request a day.

  • that sucks @jefsnickerdoodle (does that tag you in the convo?) We had our orientation in the spring- and we missed it due to our Disney trip. But aside from the bus trip I don't know if we missed really all that much. And our supply list is super short. And I talked to neighbors about it before so that eased my stress. We have 3 weeks until she starts.  i should probably call the pedi. I still need to get her medical form filled out.
  • Along the school lines...we will not get any information about preschool until 4 days before it starts.  DD is doing full day this year.  I don't know anything about lunch.  Does she have an option to buy?  Are there any restrictions (no peanuts)?  I think there is "rest" time.  Does she need a nap mat?   I am a planner....I like to know things well in advance.  Not having any info is driving me nuts.  I also think it would help dd if we could start talking about what things will be like this year at school but I honestly have no clue.

  • I love all the other planners who like to know things in advance! I am waiting on the bus schedule so we know how early dd needs to get up! Our school supply list was online last week and all we have to get is backpack and headphones!

Dd's favorite teacher's last day is tomorrow. I hope I don't cry! We adore her. And that leads up to Friday which is dd's last day and I am sure I will cry!

I really just want kindergarten to start so I can stop being so anxious about it all!

  • ugh.  I asked the only neighbor I know that recently had a kindergartener and she told me pencils a hard pencil box and kleenex was about all they needed but it depends on the teacher. SO I hate to go out and shop then find out I need more, only because of the baby... I need to get as much done in as few trips as quickly as possible!

     I wish they posted online....

I also don't know what time the bus is coming. says we get bus passes at the meet the teacher night on the 22

All I do know is that he has to be there no earlier than 7:45 and no later than 8:20 and that school is over at 11:05.

I didn't get any notifications... maybe I don't have them on or because I am not linked into FB? It didn't notify me on here either over there at the top right...

  • Add me to the list of people who like to be prepared!  I don't know why, but the unknown just makes me very anxious!  I mean, just give people the information....i'm sure it would cut down on the number of parents calling or emailing the school with the same questions over and over again.

we did get our bus schedule about 2 weeks ago, but I think they gave it to us much earlier than usual because they modified the start and end times for all schools.

    yes, me too!

oh well. Just thought I would try out the new fancy "features"
  • I am also freezing in my office!  Any time I leave the building I am always surprised at how warm it is and almost forget that it is summer.  Getting into my hot car is actually a relief most days!

I noticed that you get notifications along the top of the screen.  There is a little thing that looks like a globe, and it should have a red icon on it if there are any alerts.  (kind of like FB)

My vent is that the lenses of Mason's glasses were scratched so we took them back to get replaced and they said they would be back in about 5-7 days.  Well that was almost 4 weeks ago.  I called to check on the status a couple times and kept being told they weren't in yet.  Then his spare pair broke, so he hasn't had glasses for a few days now.  Finally, I called again and found out that no one knows where is glasses are and his frames are no longer carried so we have to go back in and pick out another pair.  Fortunately they said they would replace his spare pair for free (which we did not have a protection plan on since they are just the spare) but those are also no longer carried so we have to order a new pair, so Mason will be without glasses for over a week. On the plus side, we have to go to Cranberry to do this, so we are going to Red Robin for dinner!
  • You guys would go as nuts (as I currently am) if you had to deal with the slow pace of things down here.

Gavin is going to parochial school again this year. so I called the school about tuition bills and got put to a VM for the person in charge of them. The message said that bills were sent and due the 10th or there is a $25 late fee. We never got a bill - so, I'm expedcting a late fee now. I also never got a call back from the tuition person.

I also had to call to find out about supply lists and teacher assignment. I was told that we don't have to buy supplies (unless the teacher requests everything at the start of the year) - which means we miss out on the school supply tax-free weekend last weekend. (Tax down here is 8.25%!) And we'll find out who is teacher is next Monday night - two days before school starts.

Add to this that the districts don't bus to Catholic school here and the uniform has a mandatory LOGO on it, so I had to buy from a uniform supply company here. I spent $150 on two pairs of shorts, two short sleeved polo shirts and a tie (needed for formal wear - Mass days). I'm holding off buying the slacks (hoping we can get away with the Children's Place slacks from last year, which don't have a pleated front), long-sleeved shirts, and white button-down shirt (plan to buy Walmart) bc of the crazy cost!

Ugh. I'm so tired and feel defeated at times!

    My three sons!

  • New students arrive on Monday.   Old students don't finish until Friday.  Next week is my hell week and I don't feel ready.  If my co-irker makes it to the end of next week without my foot print imprinted somewhere on her body, she should consider herself lucky.

We finally got info from the school, and they're having an open house next week.  It's such a relief because I know Noah and the other kids were nervous about going to a new school.  (Our little elementary school is closing and they're moving to what used to be the middle school).  I have new worries this year because Noah will be a walker, but he'll need to take the bus in the afternoons to after school.  I'm afraid that they won't realize this since he's technically a walker.

  • About half of our new neighbors are not happy to have us in the neighborhood.  One of them needed their waterline (their portion from the main) repaired and they blamed us.  Their leak started about 3 weeks after our waterline was put in and the water company said it is completely not related (their waterline was over 50 years old), but they're spreading it around the neighborhood that it is our fault--the neighbors that do like us have told us.

Another neighbor on the far end of our property took it upon himself to pull out the survey pin, knock down some trees into our property and extend his yard.  DH just found it today and left him a note to please call him since he wasn't home.

My parents' neighbors on both sides cut down trees on their property. The first time it was the builder an my mom made such a stink that they replanted 5 trees down the property line. The second merely said, oh well we didn't realize.

My slight vent is I need to figure out how to make all the kids on our street stopping using our yard as a short cut to ride their quads and dirt bikes. There is a path from the main road to the middle of our cleared property that goes to the entrance of the vacant 22 acres next door. I wouldn't mind so much if they didn't fly across the yard but I am afraid that they are going to run the dogs over. Plus, I really don't want to be liable if they get hurt since most of them don't have on helmets or riding gear.

My coworker (cubes) crunches hard candy all day long every day. I seriously worry that one day I'm going to lose it! I hate loud chewers to begin with but this is abnormally excessive and makes me want to scream!

Nathan did jump on his bike one day to chase them but they were long gone before he got up there.

Really, he doesn't want them scaring off the deer for hunting season.
